The Apostle Paul continues to coach and encourage these followers of Jesus (and us too) toward the better way of Jesus. He spending the second half of this letter to the folks in Corinth answering mail. Here in chapter 8 Paul begins unpacking our call to be people who live with freedom AND people who also live with love. Paul takes an issue that seems incredibly specific—meat sacrificed to idols—and exposes a much deeper discipleship question: What do I do when my Christian freedom collides with my responsibility to love someone else? Christian maturity isn't measured by how many freedoms I can defend, but by how freely I can surrender them for love.
