Elements City Church

Moving News

Elements City Church enjoyed a fantastic launch to midtown last Sunday January 12th 2014. We had so many join us to celebrate. We had some ‘fans’ – those from Casas and Pantano and other churches and parts of our city that came. They’ve been so great in prayer and support in all kinds of ways leading up to this move. We had our ‘family’ – those of you who call Elements home, who have given so much of your time, energy, resources and prayer to help us get relocated. We also had some ‘friends’, some new guests join us as we embark on what we have affectionally referred to as Elements City Church 2.0 – we loved hosting our first service at Catalina High School with them in particular in mind.

It was a great night of celebration, worship and excitement! It really does feel like ‘home’ already!

We’ve talked about creating a space and place where: Everyone’s welcome. Each One Matters.

We’re so grateful for our amazing volunteers who help us with set up and tear down, who serve in Ekids and in other capacities on Sundays. THANK YOU. We’re just getting warmed up and the best is yet to come. *If you’re interested in serving go here – if you’re interested in getting connected in a small group go here.

Keep inviting and leveraging your connections to extend a warm welcome to some of your friends who should join us. We’ll leave out the welcome mat.

Here’s are newest update of information regarding our move and some items as we enter Thanksgiving week and make our way toward the end of the year.

We will be moving our gatherings to:

Catalina Magnet High School (3645 E Pima Street | Tucson AZ 85716)

Sunday evenings beginning: JANUARY 12th 2014 (535pm-7pm)

Make plans to join us as we celebrate! Consider getting involved in the many volunteer opportunities we have as we prepare for this move. You can sign up at “The Hub” in the back after services. There’s a spot for you on our load-in team, tear-down team, guest services or many other teams. We’ve got a lot to do as we prepare for this next step as a church family. Thank you for being a support in multiple ways to the journey God has us on.

I wanted to give you a bit of an update on a few things as we enter this Christmas season and approach our move:

Our next Starting Point Class is set for December 8th | 3-5pm *if you’re new to Elements, we’d like to invite you to hang out with some of our leaders and hear our story and find your fit. You can RSVP here: http://elementscitychurch.org/starting-point/

The Christmas series is set for Sunday’s December 15th and 22nd. On the 22nd – we will be having a family-friendly service (childcare for only the young ones / 0-3 years old) as we celebrate Christmas together. We will be ending service a bit earlier and inviting our entire church family to reconvene at the entrance to Winterhaven at 745pm that evening for a Winterhaven Walk through. Make plans to bundle up and join us.

We will NOT be having a Christmas eve service this year, but encourage you and your family to perhaps attend the services that will be held at Casas Church or Pantano Christian Church. You can find out service times online for both. ( www.casaschurch.org or www.pccwired.org )

On December 3rd (Tuesday) – we want to invite you out to see the Catalina High School campus and facility where we will be meeting. It will be an OPEN HOUSE event. Feel free to drop in to take a quick tour anytime between 5pm-8pm on December 3rd. Come let Bryan and I show you around – see the auditorium, the space where our kiddos will be meeting and get familiar with this beautiful campus.

As we approach our partnership with Catalina High School, one of the major needs that Mr. Scott (principal) has made known, is the need for chairs in their Little Theater. They have none.

Last year, we encouraged Elements folks to give above and beyond in December and we committed to giving away a double tithe on funds received that month. We were able to bless the ABCS agency helping families in midtown through your generosity. This year: we want to encourage you to go above and beyond in year end giving again. We will direct a 20% gift of funds received in December, plus some of our mission money, toward purchasing chairs for Catalina HS. These chairs will not only help the school and meet their top need, but will benefit our group as well. As our children’s ministry grows, the Little Theater will become a meeting space for us down the road. (*YES, your gifts to Elements are tax-deductible – so for 2013 taxes, make sure to give by December 31st)

Thank you to all of you who are partnering with us financially, it enables us to do all we do, to begin this new year and new adventure with a solid financial footing and frees us to bless the students of the school that will be our home. *You can give at service or securely online here: http://elementscitychurch.org/give

Thank you again for being a part of this adventure – helping us BE THE CHURCH within our city and to bring the hope of Jesus to impact folks here. We are a community that is “inviting people into a life-giving and life-changing relationship with Jesus.” That’s why we exist. We want to help people take a ‘first-step’ and continual ‘next-steps’ in their spiritual journey.

We’ve seen that mission unfold in many lives throughout this last year, and friend, we’re just getting warmed up. I’ve been praying this prayer of Habakkuk in the Old Testament: “LORD, we have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, LORD. Repeat them in our day. In our time make them known…”  (Habakkuk 3:1 niv) – Join me in praying this over our city and for God to use us mightily for His glory and fame.

…As you know since January 2013,  Elements City Church has been in the process of examining sites for a move toward mid-town Tucson. We’ve had numerous conversations. On Tuesday, October 15, we met with the Site Council of Catalina Magnet High School. They unanimously (10 out of 10) invited us to begin renting from them and partnering with their school.

Catalina is located just 2 miles east of the University of Arizona — just north of Speedway, at the cross streets of Pima/Dodge. It’s on a bus route. It’s a historic school with great parking. Catalina was the 3rd high school built in the city of Tucson. It’s a beautiful campus and located in the heart of our city.

We are excited about the potential we have to invest in the school and encourage its staff as we rent from them. We’re grateful for the beautiful wood and brick, fully restored, 800 seat auditorium that will host our gatherings and the space for our children’s ministry.

Question: When? Well, it’s looking like: JANUARY 12th, 2014

We’re in process of signing the contract with the TUSD rental office. We have initiated agreements with various companies for the sound, lighting and video equipment that we’ll need. We just purchased a 26′ foot trailer that will hold our cases/equipment, and we have someone donating a vehicle that will haul it. Praise God!

We’ll continue acquiring children’s equipment and all the items necessary to go as a fully functioning ‘portable church’. Same time: 5:35pm-7pm Sunday evenings – just at a different place. We’ll continue our vibrant and life-giving worship experiences that invite people closer to Christ, while we serve our city.

Here’s how you can help: Continue to pray over this process and our leaders/volunteers. Pray for the staff and leaders at Catalina. Get the word out about the impending move. Stay connected through social media for the latest happenings. Join one of our volunteer teams. (Set up team, Tear down team, Tech team, Ekids team, Guest Services, etc). Continue or jump in now to invest financially in this adventure. Your regular gifts help us prepare to take on the responsibility and opportunity we’re moving toward.

*Remember: you can give at Elements or online at http://elementscitychurch.org/give. (It’s safe and secure.)

As we stand on the brink of launching out on our own, it’s time for all of us who call Elements ‘home” to be ALL IN. We are some of the folks God has assembled to bring His hope to the heart of our city! We desire, in God’s love, to reach out to hundreds who aren’t here yet – we now will have the space to do so!

Thank you for your prayers, your gifts, your investment and your passion to be on this journey. Commit anew to this adventure. Travel with us.

Help us bring the Hope!

P.S.

Consider helping out on a work project. November 16th beginning at 8am. The neighborhood association and some students/faculty from Catalina HS do an annual Cleanup Day around the neighborhood/campus. Consider joining a group of Elements folks there. We’ll begin meeting alongside them at 8am at the City Pool that is directly north of the high school off of Dodge Street. Bring some tools and trash bags. Let’s join in and serve strong.
